Wondering What Alaska Has To Offer?
Published Friday, July 23rd 2010 - Updated Friday, July 23rd 2010While you’re docked at the port on your amazing cruise planned by Top Vacation Planners to Alaska you might be wondering all that Alaska has to offer. Well I’m here to tell you that there’s more to Alaska than ice and freezing temperatures.
For instance if your into getting your adrenaline rush, Alaska’s rivers located in the mountain country are waiting for you. These rivers lure many raft riders and kayakers from all over, not to mention the beautiful scenery and astonishing site of animals in their natural habitat make it irresistible. The best part is that this is perfect for any traveler, whether you are experienced or this being your first time.
Glacier viewing: As you might have guessed Alaska has beautiful glaciers for our viewing pleasure courtesy of Mother Nature. You can catch glaciers driving down highways in Alaska, or you can view them by sea on your cruise. Most cruise ships pull in close to the “rivers of ice” located in Glacier Bay National Park, or Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, and Prince William Sound. Although, you can go on more private trips on smaller ships, which carries other sightseers to similar sites.
Fishing: Alaska has twenty-one different recognized species of sport fish in its lakes, streams, and oceans. We can’t forget about the huge halibut as big as doors, and rainbow trout that weigh fifteen pounds. Fishing in Alaska can be as easy as buying a license and going to a stream or lake, although depending on how remote you want your fishing site to be is how easy or difficult It will be to get there.
Hiking: From the greater feats of hiking up Denali for example to the smaller but just as fun in Denali and Chugach state parks, you can find hiking path that is more your speed. Backcountry can be more of a challenge because of its greater hazards like mosquitoes, bears, devil’s club, cold fords in milky rivers, and rainy-late summer days. However taking a stroll or hike in the mountains or tundra, provides serenity and breathtaking beauty.
Aurora Borealis: Aurora Borealis, better known as the Northern Lights, is something that you’re going to want to experience. It’s amazing that something that is just a part of Earth and its cycle could be so beautiful. The enticing shades of green, purple, and red make Alaskans not mind so much being outside in the cold January winter with their families, neighbors, and friends.
These are just some of the many fun things to do in the great state and popular cruise destination of Alaska. We hope this helps you in your decision to book a cruise with us whether it be to Alaska or another destination of your choice.
